Barcelona (/bɑːrsəˈloʊnə/, Catalan: [bəɾsəˈlonə], Spanish: [barθeˈlona]) is the capital city of the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain and Spain's second most populated city, with a population of 1.6 million within its administrative limits. Its urban area extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of around 4.7 million people, being the seventh-most populous urban area in the European Union after Paris, London, Madrid, the Ruhr area, Berlin and Milan. It is the largest metropolis on the Mediterranean Sea, located on the coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs, and bounded to the west by the Serra de Collserola mountain range, the tallest peak of which is 512 metres (1,680 ft) high.
Founded as a Roman city, in the Middle Ages Barcelona became the capital of the County of Barcelona. After merging with the Kingdom of Aragon, Barcelona continued to be an important city in the Crown of Aragon as an economical and administrative center of this Crown and the capital of the Principality of Catalonia. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona has a rich cultural heritage and is today an important cultural center and a major tourist destination. Particularly renowned are the architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner, which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean is located in Barcelona. The city is known for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as world-class conferences and expositions and also many international sport tournaments.
CBS This Morning is an American morning television program that is broadcast on CBS. The program, which shares its title with a more traditionally formatted morning program that aired on the network from 1987 to 1999, airs Monday through Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in all time zones (airing live in the Eastern Time Zone and on tape-delay in the Central and Mountain Time Zones; stations in the Pacific Time Zone receive an updated feed with a specialized opening and updated live reports). It is the tenth distinct morning news-features program format that CBS has aired since 1954, having replaced The Early Show on January 9, 2012.
The weekday edition of the program is currently anchored by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. The program emphasizes general national and international news stories and in-depth reports throughout each edition, although it also includes live in-studio and pre-taped interviews. The format was chosen as an alternative to the soft news and lifestyle-driven formats of competitors Today and Good Morning America following the first hour or half-hour of those broadcasts, in an attempt to give the program a competitive edge with its hard news format (CBS has historically placed third in the ratings among the network morning shows).

Carles Puigdemont says Catalans will not accept the Spanish government's plans to impose direct rule on the region. He describes it as the worst attack on Catalonia's institutions since General Franco's 1939 to 1975 dictatorship, under which autonomy was dissolved. He says Mariano Rajoy's government is acting against the democratic will of the Catalan people by refusing all offers of dialogue, and that he will call for a session of the regional parliament to debate a response to the Spanish prime minister's plans. Catalan separatists clashed with Spanish police in Barcelona into the early hours of Thursday morning. Tensions are running high as the central government steps up its efforts to stop an independence referendum scheduled for October 1. https://democracynow.org - Spain is plunged into a political crisis as the Spanish government moves to impose direct rule over Catalonia, following the region’s independence referendum. On Saturday, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced the move, stripping the northeastern region of its autonomy in an effort to crush Catalonia’s independence movement. Following an emergency Cabinet meeting on Saturday, Rajoy said he will invoke Article 155 of the Constitution, which has never been used in Spain’s modern democratic history. Carles Puigdemont, speaker of the Catalan Parliament, has called Spain’s move to seize political control of the region a “de facto coup d’état.” Puigdemont said that Catalonia’s Parliament will meet in the coming days, amid speculation he might unilaterally decl...

Catalonian protesters rejoiced outside of the CUP (Candidatura d'Unitat Popular) headquarters in Barcelona, after Spanish security forces stood down and departed from an eight hour standoff, Wednesday. SOT, Nuria Gibert, spokesperson of the National Secretariat of the CUP (Catalonian): "We do not know why this police operation has taken place. When our deputies approached the officers to find out what they were doing, or what they are looking for, or what they wanted, they did not reply. They have denied to speak or to return so much as a word, so at this time we do not know yet what they want, or what they are looking for. We know that they have tried to enter without judicial order and that they are not allowed - which is normal." Video ID: 20170920 102 Video on Demand: http://www.rupt...

Hundreds of students from the University of Barcelona blocked the city's central motorways including AP-7 and B-30 on Friday, to protest against the imprisonment of former Catalan government vice-president Oriol Junqueras and seven other former Generalitat counsellors. Protesters blocked and disturbed traffic, triggering arguments between protesters and a motorcyclist, with the latter being seemingly unhappy as he directed the loud rumble of his motorbike's at protesters. On Thursday, Spanish National Court ordered to keep Junqueras, as well as the seven other former Generalitat counsellors, in custody. Meanwhile, a European arrest warrant is also expected to be issued for former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont. Video ID: 20171103-025 Video on Demand: http://www.ruptly.tv Contact: c...

Spain says it is going to take away Catalonia's autonomy as region's leader ignores a deadline to abandon secession plans. A special cabinet meeting is due on Saturday to trigger Article 155 of the Spanish constitution. It allows government leaders in Madrid to take "all measures necessary" to prevent an autonomous region from breaking the law. Article 155 has never been applied before so its consequences are not clear. The options include removing the Catalan leadership, taking control of the police force and calling a snap regional election. Catalonia's President has threatened to declare independence in the regional parliament, if government leaders in Madrid don't hold talks. Carles Puidgemont claims widespread support - 90 percent in last month's referendum voted to secede. ...

The 2017 Spanish constitutional crisis is an ongoing political conflict between the Government of Spain and the Generalitat of Catalonia over the issue of the 2017 Catalan independence referendum, starting after the law intending to allow such a referendum was denounced by the Spanish government under Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and subsequently suspended by the Constitutional Court until it ruled on the issue. The Catalan government under President Carles Puigdemont announced that neither central Spanish authorities nor the courts would halt their plans and that it intended to hold the vote anyway, sparking a legal backlash that quickly spread from the Spanish and Catalan governments to Catalan municipalities—as local mayors were urged by the Generalitat to provide logistical support and...

¡NUEVO PROGRAMA!

Butlinski or Why Do Brits Hate Brits Butlin's goes to Eastern Europe for staff while jobless Brits are told there's no work at camps. I never thought I would agree with a RED TOP but the Sunday Mirror has proved me wrong with "Butlin's goes to Eastern Europe for staff while jobless Brits are told there's no work at camps" and the Job Bank, based in Brasov, Romania says "British employers prefer Poles and Romanians because British workers have a drink problem and are lazy. They are unreliable because they don't want to work." W@8 says "Say what you will, but this something any government that cares about its people would put a stop to. Sadly we no longer have a national government, just an ever-growing European behemoth that is intent on destroying the very fabric of our British culture an...
